RAJA'S Coffee Company

Found this new coffee and mexican food stall while strolling through EX. They're having 50% off promotion until the end of this year, so there was no reason not to try them out!

Basically, they have coffee and non-coffee drinks with very reasonable prices (I had an iced cappuccino for Rp 23k, and it tasted fine). They also have mexican food like tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and nachos!

Tacos / Rp 69k
Actually didn't get to taste this one, but my cousin did and he said it was nice

Quesadillas / Rp 59k
I like this dish! Fresh guacamole (the avocado thing) and salsa (the tomato one), crispy quesadilla with warm melted cheese.

Nachos Fiesta / Rp 59k
Well, me and my cousins actually ordered two portions of this. The first one came with guacamole, salsa, and red beans. And then we thought it would be really great if it comes with beef instead of red bean. So we asked the waiter whether we could have that, and he said we could! And with the same price! Hahahaha it was really nice. The nachos were crispy and everything was just nice and fulfilling.

Personally, I think the food were a bit overpriced (without the discount). And the servers still seemed a bit unused to everything but I think that's because they were recently opened. My personal suggestion would be for you to try out this place before the promotion ends, which is 3 days from now!

TGIFRIDAYS

The last time I ate at TGIFS was years ago in some foreign airport, and it was a pleasant (and cheap) experience for me, as long as I remember. So I was quite excited when it opened branches in Jakarta. Only today did I get a chance to try out the one in Kemang Village with my cousin!

Jack Daniel's Burger / Rp 109.9 k

Well, this should have come with extra Jack Daniel's on the side (according to the menu) but wasn't I disappointed when the glazing on the side turned out to be... sweet soy sauce -_- Fortunately, most part of the buns were CRISPY just like how I asked it to be! As in for everything else (the patty, bacon, melted cheese, tomato, lettuce, and onion), they tasted good. But I believe this dish contains no Jack Daniel's at all. Maybe because this is Indonesia?  One more thing, this burger is definitely to share if you are a girl.

Onion Ring / Rp 17k
We ordered this because my cousin thought, looking at the picture in the menu, that our burger would has onion ring in it. Turned out, the picture was of Ultimate Jack Daniel's Burger (ultimate means double patty and extra onion ring, it would cost you another 40k). So our waitress suggested ordering an extra side and so we did. Nice onion ring, crispy and not too spicy nor smelly

Pineapple Sunshine / Rp29.8k
We actually ordered this for budget reason, because the other drinks were so expensive :( Hahahah refreshing drink, but actually the cup was filled with more ice crush than pineapple juice!

We had a nice time at TGIFS, even though turned out it wasn't a cheap restaurant at all. Just another proof of my theory that (almost) everything branched from abroad becomes overpriced in Indonesia! The servers were also all very friendly and nice!

PAUL Bakery & Patisserie

I have been anticipating this place for so long and finally they're open! Beautiful place, such great ambience. As soon as I got a table inside, I directly head for the pastry display section. Man, wasn't that a sight!! (sorry I didn't take a picture :p) So, after some thoughtful consideration, here are what I had:

Charlemagne Dinde / Rp 60k
This is basically a cold turkey and cheese sandwich. The bread was a bit hard and crispy, which is still fine for me. Tasted nice, but nothing really special.

Canele / Rp 25k
This one, sad to say, is a let down. I was intrigued because the waiter said it has rum in it and that this is one of their best selling product. But, for me it tasted just like bika ambon!! I didn't get the slightest hint of rum :(

Millefeuille Mangue / Rp 50k
Such a fine piece of pastry! Crispy pastry, fresh mango filling with real mango bits! Perfect level of sweetness balanced with freshness. Thumbs up!

Eclair Cafe Natur / Rp 40k
The eclair was good, but not really good. For me, the icing on top was a bit too sweet and the filling didn't have enough coffee flavour. But the texture of the eclair is not too soft, which is a good thing.

Cafe Au Lait / Rp 45k
Well, nice coffee, but nothing extraordinary

If you like pastry, you should definitely visit PAUL. Their showcase was such a sight and I bet you will have a hard time deciding what to have! However, my visit would have been so much better if only the service was better. I don't know if they're lacking in staff or what but I expected a much better service. Hopefully they will have improved their service on my next visit!

MOJO Kitchen & Bar

Few weeks ago I went to MOJO for lunch with my sisters. One step inside and I already fell for this place! The interior was dominated by minimalist wooden furniture and scattered green plants, making the place feels warm and comfortable. Okay, straight to the food and beverage!

Bailey's Milkshake
I expected a stronger hint of Bailey's, but it tasted just okay :)

Classic Taco with Beef / Rp55k
Nice looking, nice tasting dish. The only minus point is that the beef was a bit hard to chew.  And maybe it would be better if they made the tacos  a bit crispy!

Manly Burger / Rp80k
This one is a very appealing burger! The bacons were too salty for me, but overall it was a very decent burger. Plus, the fries are delicious! Non-greasy and sprinkled with tasty seasoning, they came in a generous portion.

MOJO Fried Rice with Duck Egg Mata Sapi with Short Ribs / Rp50k
The fried rice was okay. The green thing (I think) is pesto sauce, and you might think pesto doesn't go well with fried rice, but hey they tasted just fine together. The short ribs were soft and tasted nice. However, the star of the dish for me was the runny egg yolk! The overall dish was still a bit bland for me tho.

Delicious churros! Generous amount of cinnammon and sugar sprinkled on crunchy non-greasy churros. The chocolate dipping was also not too sweet and had nice consistency.

I would say it was a pleasant and delicious lunch. Good food, good ambience, good company! Service and price are both good. Looking forward to come back and try other menus, esp. their ferrero ice cream!  :D

Jill in Marketbar

Jill in Marketbar is a newly opened restaurant in Grand Indonesia. Being under the same management as the Marketbar resto in Kota Kasablanka, this branch is said to has more choices in the menu.

Drink List

Food Menu

The place has a nice decoration and ambient with a touch of homey decoration. Because they are just opened, some of the menu are not yet available by the time of my visit (which is last Saturday!) So here are what I had:

Stuffed Crispy Potato Skin / Rp30k
Crispy potato skin stuffed with mashed potato, topped with melted and grated cheese and also sprinkles of bacon. Garnished with teriyaki sauce. Tastes really good! The potato skin was really crispy and everything just tasted right.

Peking Duck Pizza / Rp75k
The crust is really thin and crispy (even a bit hard on some parts), but I think it's lacking in sauce. Just a bit too dry and tasteless for me.

Virgin Pear Mojito / Rp40k
Refreshing beverage!  Comes with slices of fresh pear too.

Creme de Brulle / Rp30k
Torched to perfection right before your eyes!
The creme brulee comes in 3 flavors: Lychee, Coffee, and Durian. All three are decent!!

Selection of cakes and desserts
They also got choices of cakes at 35k each but personally I think the portion is a bit too small for the price.

Overall, it was a pleasant dinner. The service was also good and the prices are pretty reasonable. I would definitely come back to taste their fried mars bar! Why go to Bondi if you can have it here in Jill in Marketbar right? :D

Plan B Spanish Restaurant

Last Saturday I decided to have a lunch at Plan B Spanish Resto. I actually found out about this resto a few days ago in post from a fellow blogger Ferna in her blog http://fernavventura.blogspot.com :D

Arriving at the spot, I noticed nothing special about the exterior. The location was quite hard to find. Located inside a small Ruko (Ruko Permata Senayan), the restaurant itself is not visible from the road.
As I got inside, I noticed that all of the guests were expatriates! They were also quite loaded considering the timing and location. We got seated and as we started with the menu, we went flipping hopelessly through the pages as we know nothing about spanish food! Finally we called a waitress who very kindly answered all of our questions. And here are our orders!

Spanish Omelette (Tortilla de Patata) / Rp29k
I ordered this because the waitress said this is one of their favourite menu. It turned out quite nice. The potato was soft, the egg was a bit runny inside but quite crispy on the outside. What I like very much is the bread because it was crispy!!! Overall, the dish was not really bursting with flavour but I like it just fine.

Green Peppers Stuffed with Prawns / Rp33k
The picture might look unappealing, but I assure you, this dish actually tasted really good. According to our waitress, this is one of the most ordered dish and I have no wonder why. The green pepper, I think, lost its spicy/bitter taste in the processing so all it contributed to the dish was texture. The filling made up for the lost tho, because it was not too soft and it tasted good! The sauce was also delicious. It was a bit spicy, and the taste kinda remind me of jalapeño (maybe it is one of the ingredients?)

Toasted Baguette with Salmon, Cream Cheese, and Gherkin / Rp33k
Well, Salmon and cream cheese. Who could resist the combination? Especially when they come on top of a wheat bread with a gherkin (some sort of pickled cucumber) on top. Tasted nice, just as expected :D

Spaghetti with Prawns / Rp40k
My dad ordered this one. Both pasta and prawns were cooked nicely. Good thing they got fresh shrimps. You could tell they use premium olive oil (and they actually do!) from the fresh and non-greasy taste. A bit spicy but nothing too overwhelming. Nice pasta!

Lemon Tart with Merengue and Toffee Sauce / Rp28k
I'm a dessert person so ordering a dessert is a must for me. I asked a waiter which dessert is the most ordered one and he said the lemon tart is. The crust was crispy and it kinda balanced the sour taste of the lemon. Usually I'm the type of person who avoid the crust but not today! The merengue was also fluffy and nice, not too sweet for my liking.

Mosaic Coffee / Rp28k
My mom picked this one. I don't really know what the components are but here are my guesses: The bottom layer was soaked chiffon. Soaked in what, that's what I'm not really sure. Coffee maybe, or rhum. But I definitely think this dish contains some alcohol! Then the next layer was liquid coffee mousse and on top were almonds. Scrrrumptious!

Spanish Creme Brûlée with Burnt Cinnamon Sugar / Rp28k
My sister was the one tempted by this dish. I don't eat a lot of creme brulee so I can't really compare, but I think they over-burnt the sugar a bit because although the layer was perfectly crispy, parts of it tasted a bit bitter. The inside was delicious tho!

Seafood Pudding San Sebastian Style / Rp39k
Well, my mother noticed this dish AFTER we had everything so we had an appetizer as our last dish hahah. Again, the bread was perfectly crispy. Man they just know how to serve perfect bread. The pudding itself was nice. It got the fresh seafood taste without the smell. Personal opinion:  this is definitely a dish you need to share, because although it tasted light, eating too much of the pudding could be overwhelming. Oh and maybe some more of the sauce would be nice.

Overall, it was a pleasant lunch, especially with the super friendly chef, Oscar, greeting every guest present. The prices were also very reasonable. If you're planning a visit, do keep in mind that they are closed on Sundays!
