TREDICI RISTORANTE

Tredici is not a new restaurant and perhaps many of you have dined here before. However, this was my first time here and it was a nice first impression.

The place feels very homy, and although it seemed like they were quite understaffed (even the security guy got involved in serving food!) , but the service was still good.

This area in the picture is located at the back and it is actually the smoking area, but luckily there was no one smoking when we came so we decided to sit in this area.

They serve a basket of various complimentary bread. My favorite is the long crispy sticks :) The bread was actually quite mediocre but the olive/pesto sauce they served alongside the bread basket was really nice.

 Petto di Pollo Alla Parmigiana (Rp 98k++)
Chicken breast stuffed with eggplant, mozzarella cheese, white wine, tomato sauce, mashed potato, mix vegetables

Chicken was too salty for me but overall it was an enjoyable dish :)

 Pappardelle A Casereccia (Rp 92k++)
Pappardelle pasta, green peas, mushrooms, italian pork sausage, tomato sauce, dash of cream

IN LOVE WITH THEIR PASTA! Hahaha I know it is a bit too much since I have actually only tasted one of their pasta dish, but this one was really good. It was not to creamy nor too sour from the tomato. The pasta was al dente and they were generous with the toppings.

House Iced Tea (Rp 30k++)
Lychee and white sumbawa honey

Not an ordinary iced tea, another proof that Tredici is serious about their food and beverages :)

Overall, I like this restaurant and will definitely come back for another pasta dish.

BENEDICT

Another restaurant from the Union Group! They focus on egg and brunch dishes and recently added more milkshakes to their previous choices. Sorry I didn't manage to take pictures of the place but it was nice with homy and warm ambience.

Japanese Egg Benedict - Rp 80k++
Poached eggs, shiitake rice, chicken hamburg, sauteed horenzo, dynamite hollandaise, side salad

Major yum! I love the balance of everything and it really tasted Japanese. Egg yolk was perfectly runny, the sauce tasted ncie, and THE CHICKEN was so friggin good. Salad dressing was also delicious :) I recommend this one to everyone out there!

Cereal milkshake - Rp 60k++

We had a hard time deciding which milkshake to have. We asked for the one that is not too sweet and the waitress recommended this one. He said this is one of the most ordered flavor as well. So we went with it but turned out this was a tad too sweet for us that we didn't even get to finish it. It tasted really just like vanilla milk. And I was expecting a bit more cereal... :| But, presentation wise, it was quite cute, especially the straw :)

Lindt Chocolate Cake - Rp55k++
I have been drooling over pictures of this cake on instagram for a while so my expectation was quite high... But... The rice krispies were not crispy and that really was a major let down for me.. The rest of the cake was just fine but ... you know.. I really hope it was just my bad luck...

Although the only dish I really enjoy was the Japanese benedict, I still am optimistic about the quality of Benedict's food and beverage.. And intending to come back for more.. Let's just hope it was an unlucky day for me :)

THREE BUNS Burger and Heads Jakarta

Finallyyy I get to visit this iconic burger place during the hard rain yesterday afternoon..

I really like the place... the vibe is really nice, like you get to feel comfortable and it's so casual despite their high prices :') . The staffs are all very friendly too.

Ok let's jumppp to the food nomnom

The Chewbakkwa - Rp 110k++
Aged beef patty, Notorious T.O.M sauce, charred tipsy spiced pineapple, XO mayonnaise, smoked cheese, bakkwa, pickled chilli and scallions in a toasted rice bun

First and foremost, sorry to my Moslem friends, this is non halal since the bakkwa is basically pork jerky :'|
This is their special menu of the month that also celebrates the upcoming Starwars movie (YEAH) although there's really nothing Starwars-related about this burger except the name hahahah.

We added small portion of House Fries (Rp 15k++). Their packaging, I think, is very nice, simple and just effortless.

Portion-wise: for 110k, this is definitely not a big burger. But if you are a quality over quantity type of person I'm sure you'll be OK

Taste-wise: It didn't wowed me away but I wasn't let down badly either. Everything they put in blend real well together and produces a unique tasting burger. It has got a sweet kick from the bakkwa and a sour punch from the pineapple. The patty is also very tasty and thick and cooked just right that it is still juicy in the perfect way. NOM. Oh, about their fries, mediocre.

Vanilla Guerilla - Rp 45k++
Dark chocolate brioche bun, vanilla ice cream patty, with hot salted butterscotch sauce

Major love for the vanilla ice cream! Can really get a hint of vanilla bean taste from it hmmm :) The bun is also not bad, although the sauce is just.. mediocre.

They have 15% off discount with CIMB credit cards. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Three Buns and although I must admit their burger are quite pricey I would be back for their Burning Man which I am just so curious to taste. And their other desserts!

OLIVIER GRAND INDONESIA

I have been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while, tempted by pretty pictures of the place on Instagram and also curious to try their signature dessert, the Mochi Toast.
Getting in, I agree with those saying that this restaurant is very spacious inside. Decoration is very classy with a bar and everything. I particularly like the deer head and the greens.

The downpoint for me who is a non smoker is that their smoking area has better seating with a lot of sofas near the bar, while the non smoking area consists of mainly regular tables.

FOOD

Complimentary bread

Tasty! Crisp on the outside, soft inside, and served warm. The butter is also not just ordinary butter but it has pieces of chili in it. Garlic/chili butter, perhaps?

Roasted chicken with mashed potato and ratatouille - 120k
Big portion, good for sharing, so I would say it is worth the price. I like the creamy mashed potato. The chicken also tasted okay. Not so much into the ratatouille though. Frankly, I haven't ratatouille that many times but I never recall the taste being this similar to fried onion...

Mochi toast - 70k
Finally, fulfilling my curiousity, the infamous mochi toast! Initially, I had a bit of worry since I read a review somewhere saying that the fried mochi has metallic taste and everything.. but my curiousity totally beat my worry. And, ordering this toast is a decision I do not regret! The toast was crispy (I specifically asked for it :p) but I didn't actually taste a lot of pandan in it. It is filled with mochi, which is quite unique. Turns out to be good! Thank God the fried mochi didn't have metallic taste, instead in had this delicious dark chocolate filling. The dark chocolate sauce is really ncie and the rice krispies just make a final perfect touch to this dessert.

SERVICE

Service was fast and all the servers are very friendly

WOULD I COME BACK?
Yes! I am still curious to try their other dessert which is the chocolate mousse. It seems so good on instagram! And the chocolate cognac cake! :P

See you soon Olivier!

Wilshire

I guess this one doesn't need anymore introduction as it has been established for quite some time in the well known SCBD area. Stepping in, I could feel the fancy feeling to this place. They also give you time limitations for table usage, just like Union. And I kinda forget but I think they also have a minimal order policy for their tables.

Cheeseburger Eggsplosion - Rp 119k

Juicy patty, perfec sunny side up, and melted cheese. Everything about a good cheeseburger is in this dish. But, you know, there are a lot of good cheeseburgers in this town, so it's kinda hard to say this is an awesome-special dish. BUT the fries! Their truffle fries is definitely special. Thinly sliced, fried to perfect crisp and seasoned well, definitely awesome and special!

BBQ Babyback Ribs - Rp 165k

Tasty, but again, nothing special.

Durian Souffle - Rp 85k

Since there are not a lot of restaurants serving durian soufflé, I should say this is a special dish and it tastes nice too! I heard that making soufflé is not easy but I think Wilshire nailed it.

If you are wondering why I keep talking about special, it is simply because I think too many restaurants have been popping out in the city lately and most of them serve the same kind of food. All that differentiate them is probably the vibe, the cool venue, or such. Some don't even pay attention to the quality of the food they are serving. So, maybe the time has come to be a more selective foodie.

As for Wilshire, yes, it is a nice place to have a fancy dinner. But, I don't really see myself coming back soon because I believe I could get the same kind of food with the same quality with way better prices somewhere else. Talk about being economical! :D
