El Greco Gourmet Cafe

Located in the rows of restaurants in the ground floor of Setiabudi One, you would easily spot this little cafe for its rather unusual design.

Upon entering, the Greek vibe feels so strong from all the greek writing and the blue-white-colored furniture. A foreign man (possibly the owner and chef) greeted us on our table, let us know about the menu of the day, and that all the food are freshly cooked and he uses only olive oil (judging from the food I had I'm pretty sure he wasn't lying).

Greek Salad (Horiatiki) - Rp60k
The authentic Greek salad with tomato, cucumber, onion, parsley, pepper, olives, extra virgin olive oil, Greek spices, and feta cheese

Well, the description from the menu basically says it all. I would say this is a fresh and big portion of salad, definitely to share.

Tirokroketes - Rp42k
Homemade fried cheese crochets with greek herbs

These are indeed fried cheese. The taste of cheese is really there so cheese lovers would love this dish. Personally I think they are a bit too salty but it's bearable. I ate these with some salad/french fries to tone down the saltiness.

Giaurtlu - Rp53k
BBQ fresh beef burger with Greek style pie and yogurt

Great things on one plate! The burger patty was fragrant and nice (but a bit too salty for me). The yoghurt was a bit sour, great partner to the salty patty. French fries was more the chewy type but you could tell it's cooked with good oil.

Lemonita - Rp35k
Fresh isotonic hand made Greek drink
Frape  - Rp30k
modern Greek iced long drink coffee

I like the Lemonita much better. First, because it is so fresh. Despite the weird toppings (they put some chopped onions in there), it tasted.. just fresh and nice. Don't be afraid, you won't get a hint of onion taste unless you have such bad luck that you accidentally bite one of the onion pieces :p
And second because the frape was nothing special. Just a glass of iced coffee you could find anywhere else.

Yoghurt with Honey - Rp27k

Nice dessert! It's a glass of plain yoghurt mixed with honey and chopped cashew nuts so who wouldn't like it?

If you want a taste of Greece on a reasonable price, go ahead and try El Greco out. Don't worry if you don't know anything about greek cuisine because the friendly servers would gladly explain about the menu! :)
